In this video work, YAO Qingmei runs while holding a piece of red fabric, adopting a symbolic posture of victory with seemingly boundless energy. She traverses different natural and urban landscapes in Corsica as a determined idealist.
This video performance, evoking both animalistic and disquieting emotions, constitutes a subtle intervention in her environment. The "flag" she carries continues to flutter, reminiscent of the song by Cui Jian, the father of Chinese rock, "A Piece of Red Cloth Covered My Eyes."
